About Me

I have been assisting people for nearly 20 years and am qualified to help you through the problems that are troubling you. I offer a free, confidential, no obligation telephone consultation to answer any questions that you may have about me and/or the counselling process. Should you then feel able to move forward we would make an appointment for an initial meeting. In our initial meeting we will simply explore why you feel that you require counselling at this point in your life. During this meeting you may ask any further questions that you may have, at the end I would have a sense of whether I could help you and you would hopefully feel comfortable enough to make another appointment. (See links to pages on the left hand side for more information.)

I have nearly 20 years experience in counselling with over 17000 supervised clinical hours working in the areas described on the Problem Pages, in particular in Marriage/Relationship/Family issues, DID,  Depression, Anxiety, Food Disorders, OCD, Panic Attacks, Phobias, PTSD, Trauma, RA, SRA, and Childhood Sexual Abuse.

It is often said that Counsellors are wounded healers and on the whole I would agree with this. It was certainly my early experiences that in later life led me into counselling. These experiences help me to better empathise, listen and understand peoples problems and emotions. Also helping me to come along side my clients, assisting in building a trusting and healing therapeutic relationship. Therefore, counselling to me is a passion about people and helping them to live their lives in the most functional and healthy way possible.

I am an EMDR Practitioner (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) providing assessment and treatment for individuals suffering from Psychological or Mental Health Problems including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders, RTAs, Anxiety, Body Pain, Abuse, Trauma, Dissociation, also related conditions such as Flying, Spider, Water and other phobias. (See more on the EMDR page).

About Janet

I see clients as unique individuals with differing life experiences which can be challenging to manage. Facing change in our lives can be daunting. When difficulties arise it can be helpful to have support to gain insight and find a way forward. I offer a warm, open, non-judgemental and confidential safe space through gentle challenge in a supportive therapeutic relationship. Talking through thoughts, behaviour, feelings and emotions. I am an Integrative counsellor – blending different counselling approaches including person centred, psychodynamic, existential and cognitive behavioural therapy.
